Eco-Psychology Project:

A partnership with Mt. Cinnamon, Grenada, and Rome Travel, Toronto.

The Eco-Psychology Project is a luxurious, intelligent, spiritual vacation treatment, conceived for all persons in need of rest and relaxation, healing of whatever psychological kind, and a deep, potent communication with nature.

While focused on providing guests with the highest levels of personalized care, Sweet Water’s Eco-Psychology project has the equivalent benefit of providing finance, nourishment and sustainable livelihoods to local Grenadians.

Tufton Hall is a five-star, exotic retreat high in the mountains of the Spice Isle (Grenada), situated on over 200 acres of virgin tropical rain forest. The Sweet Water Healing Retreats at Tufton Hall take from the spirit of Yoga and from Eco-Therapy while grounding ourselves in psychological enquiry, lifestyle counseling, and spiritual growth.

Our Retreat packages offer:

  • The ultimate in back to basics, back to nature, fully organic, zero-carbon-footprint experience; a full blown, greener than green, eco-retreat.
  • We grow our own produce, raise our own fowl, keep a few goats.
  • Along with the 5-star residence for those who choose it, we also offer tents in the forest with and without electricity, and hammock sleeping quarters over the river.

Daily events for eco-psychology retreat guests include:

  • Yoga.
  • The Martial Arts.
  • Day trips to farms, plantations, waterfalls, underwater sculpture gardens, snorkeling and other water sports.
  • Visits to herbal gardens, with lectures in herbal therapy.
  • Eco-treks through the rain forest.
  • Spa packages.
  • One half-day in the service of humanity – assisting with the construction of houses or the planting of the gardens within the local populace.
  • Drum circle.
  • Fire ceremony.
  • Daily psychotherapy sessions, individual or group.
  • One lecture from a visiting professor, teacher or therapist, on the philosophy of eco-psychology or healing.

Some benefits to the local population include:

  • Permanent jobs.
  • Re-training in various sustainable practices.
  • Extra plants / food for communities in need.

Proceeds from the Eco-Psychology retreat are returned to the Sweet Water Foundation.

The first Retreats are scheduled for February 1 – 14, 2010.
